Poultry Brooders & Chick Heating Equipment

Good brooding decides the first two weeks of a flock, and the first two weeks decide your livability and feed conversion for the whole batch. Surya Poultry Division manufactures the full range of chick brooding and heating equipment for layer, broiler and breeder farms across India, from our works in Hisar, Haryana, where we have been building poultry equipment since 1996.

This category covers everything you need to hold chicks at the right temperature from day one:

  • LPG gas brooders in single burner, double burner and infrared conic types, plus high-capacity units for 4,000 to 10,000 chicks and ready kits supplied with hose and regulator.
  • Electric brooders with built-in thermostat, from small 50 to 250 chick batch units up to 9 kW models covering around 1,000 sq ft.
  • Infrared heat lamps and brooder bulbs (100 to 250 W) for small sheds and backup heating.
  • Diesel and kerosene oil brooders and whole-house direct hot-air heaters for large open and EC houses.
  • Chick guards in plastic roll and GI metal types, plus brooder thermostats and temperature controllers.

Which brooder suits you depends on chick numbers, gas versus power availability, and winter temperatures in your region. North Indian winters often need more heating capacity per chick than the south. Tell us your placement size and we will recommend the right type and quantity. Surya equipment is made for Indian shed conditions and voltage, and is supported directly by the manufacturer. Send your requirement on WhatsApp for a quote and availability.

How to choose a chick brooder

Work through these points before you order, and share them with us on WhatsApp so we quote the right setup the first time.

  • Chick numbers per batch: this sets brooder type and quantity. Small backyard or breeder batches suit heat lamps or basic electric brooders; commercial placements need gas or high-capacity electric units.
  • Fuel and power: reliable grid favours electric; frequent cuts or remote sites favour LPG gas or diesel hot-air heaters. Many farms run gas plus an electric backup.
  • Region and season: winter brooding in Punjab, Haryana and UP needs more heat than coastal or southern farms. Size for your coldest week, not the average.
  • House type: open-sided sheds lose heat fast and pair well with chick guards and spot brooders; EC and tunnel houses can use whole-house diesel hot-air heaters with controllers.
  • Automation: add a brooder thermostat or temperature controller to hold a steady target temperature and cut fuel waste.

Surya supplies all of the above as the manufacturer, so you deal directly with the people who build the equipment. Send your shed size, chick count and location on WhatsApp for a tailored recommendation and price.

FAQs

Common questions

Which brooder is best, gas or electric?

Both work well in India and the right choice depends on your farm. Gas brooders (LPG) give fast, even radiant heat and are popular for larger broiler placements where power is unreliable, but you carry LPG cost. Electric brooders with a thermostat are simple, low-maintenance and good where power is steady, such as smaller layer and breeder sheds. In areas with frequent cuts, many farmers keep gas as primary and an electric or heat-lamp unit as backup. Share your chick count and power situation on WhatsApp and we will advise.

How many chicks does one brooder cover?

It depends on the model and your winter temperature. As a guide, a single-burner LPG gas brooder covers roughly 250 to 1,500 chicks, a double burner 1,000 to 2,000, and high-capacity gas units 4,000 to 10,000. Our 1,000-chick electric brooder covers about 225 sq ft at 30 to 32 deg C, and the 9 kW unit covers around 1,000 sq ft. Colder North Indian winters need more capacity per chick than the figures above.

Do I still need a chick guard if I have a brooder?

Yes. A chick guard keeps day-old chicks inside the warm brooding zone, stops them straying to cold corners, and prevents piling. We make plastic roll guards (15 or 30 ft, for 250 to 1,000 chicks) and GI metal guards with stand. It is one of the cheapest items in the shed and directly protects first-week livability.

Does the brooder come with a thermostat?

Our electric brooders come with a built-in thermostat. Gas brooders are supplied with their burner and, in the ready-kit version, with high-pressure hose and regulator. We also sell standalone brooder thermostats and temperature controllers (0 to 350 deg range, auto cut-off, digital or analog) if you want to automate an existing setup or a diesel heater.

Do you deliver brooders outside Haryana?

Yes. We are a manufacturer in Hisar and supply across North India and the rest of the country, including Punjab, Rajasthan, UP and beyond. Message us on WhatsApp with your location and quantity and we will confirm dispatch and freight.
