The right setup depends on bird type, age and how your shed is run.
- Cage layers: A nipple drinking line is standard. Use a 360 degree or 3-Way Side-Push nipple per cage with a regulator on each line so water reaches the far end at even pressure. One regulator covers roughly 500 ft of line.
- Broilers on litter: Nipples with drip cups keep litter dry, which matters for foot health and ammonia. Hoist winches let you raise and lower the line as birds grow.
- Backyard and small flocks: Automatic bell or cup drinkers are simpler, need no pressure plumbing, and are easy to clean by hand.
- Brooding chicks: Start day-old chicks on chick fountains or trough drinkers, then move them onto the nipple line as they grow.
Keep the water clean with an inline filter, and dose vitamins, acidifiers or vaccines through a medicator. A proportional water-powered medicator gives a steady dose without electricity, which suits Indian farms with patchy power. Match pipe length, header tank size and number of nipples to your bird count so flow stays correct across the shed.

What is the price of a poultry nipple drinker?

How many nipple drinkers do I need per bird?
As a working guide, plan about one nipple for every 10 to 12 layers or broilers, and place birds within 3 to 3.5 metres of a drinker so none has to walk far. Tell us your bird count and we will work out the nipple and pipe quantity for your house.
Can I buy a complete nipple drinking line for a new shed?
